About

Behind Grounded Roamer

Grounded Roamer is a place where I document a simpler way of living.

I started this space to share my story, partly for my kids in case anything ever happened to me, and partly to document my own journey toward a more self-sustained retirement. It is a record of what I am learning, what I am trying, and the kind of life I want to build over time.

After my second marriage, I found myself wanting something different. Less clutter. Less noise. Less drama. Less of the pressure that seems to come with always doing more, buying more, and keeping up with everything around you. What I wanted instead was a simpler life — one with more peace, more purpose, and more room to enjoy the moments that actually matter.

That is what Grounded Roamer means to me.

This site follows my learning around homesteading, self-sufficiency, gardening, simple living, camping, and travel. I am interested in finding practical ways to live well for less, stay organised, and build systems that make everyday life easier. Some of that looks like growing food, simplifying home, and making do with what I have. Some of it looks like getting out, travelling, and enjoying life without needing it to be complicated.

I am not an expert, and I am definitely not a guru. I am learning as I go. A lot of what I share comes from trying things, making mistakes, adjusting, and finding what works for me in real life here around Mildura. That is a big part of this space — it is honest, practical, and still in progress.

At the heart of it, Grounded Roamer is about enjoying the moment while building a quieter, cheaper, and more grounded life. It is for me first, but if other like-minded people find something useful, familiar, or encouraging here, then even better.

This is not about perfection. It is about paying attention, learning over time, and making life a little simpler where I can.

Read the journal and follow along as I keep figuring it out.
